    Description

I’m assuming you are working Weber company on this, below is what John sent to
    ?
on what Mark Hankinson found, this PSD-52 dryer is a ‘-cc’ version. The ‘cc’ stands for closed cycle. The closed cycle unit uses compressed N2 as an atmosphere instead of room/building air.
I have attached the P&ID showing the system set up. It should be relatively easy to reconfigure this unit for using atmospheric air in a ‘once-thru’ set up by removing some ducting and disabling some sensors. The closed cycle N2 set up would be used for processing feeds with solvents (acetone, ethanol, etc.) that would otherwise have a risk of fire/explosion in air. Open cycle would be typically used for water based feeds that have little or no risk of fire/explosion.
From what I see in the pictures, this control panel appears to have the individual PID controllers, not a PLC/HMI system. Based on how clean the panel appears, I would assume nearly 100% of the electrical components are fully functional.
Note that this PSD-52 dryer was designed for either fountain nozzle or rotary atomization. I did not see the rotary atomizer in any of the pictures. Section 1, attached, provides the design information for this unit.
This original company also had a MS-400 dryer which would look similar to the PSD-52 but be the next size larger. Is that the 2nd dryer being considered for purchase? I didn’t recognize that dryer in any of the pictures.
Based on the pictures, it looks like most of the components required for this PSD-52-cc are in good/excellent shape. The potential missing major piece is the rotary atomizer.
